Do I need a job offer before applying for a German work visa?
For the EU Blue Card and the Skilled Worker Visa, yes: you need a concrete contract that matches your qualification. Without an offer you can apply for the points based Opportunity Card and search for work in Germany for up to twelve months.
How do I check if my Indian degree is recognised in Germany?
Search your university and degree in the official anabin database. An H+ rating means the institution is recognised. Vocational qualifications and regulated professions need a formal recognition decision through the Recognition in Germany portal.
Can I work in Germany with English only?
In IT, engineering and research many teams work in English. Outside those fields, and in every regulated profession, employers usually expect B1 or B2 German. Basic German also makes housing and authority appointments far easier.
Which job portals do German employers actually use?
The Bundesagentur für Arbeit job portal and Make it in Germany are the official ones. StepStone, Indeed Germany, LinkedIn and Xing cover most private sector vacancies, and many companies post first on their own career pages.
