Our story

This website started with our own move. One of us grew up in India, the other in Germany. We met, fell in love, and then came the part nobody talks about in romantic stories: paperwork.

Visa appointments, translated documents, proof of income, health insurance, registration at the town hall, a bank account that would not open without an address, and an address that would not come without a bank account. We went through all of it, step by step, in two languages and two time zones.

Today we are married and living in Germany. Along the way we learned the German legal side inside out: which rule applies to which visa, which office decides what, and which document you should always carry a copy of. We also learned the other half: how confusing all of this feels from India, and what a family back home really wants to know.

India to Germany Guide is the guide we wish we had on day one. Whether you are moving for a job, a university place, or to be with the person you love, the steps are similar and the questions are the same.
