How much money do I need in a blocked account in 2026?
The standard figure is €992 per month, so €11904 for a full year of studies. Embassies expect the full year even if your course starts mid semester.
Can a scholarship reduce the amount?
Yes. A DAAD or university scholarship letter counts towards the monthly requirement, and you only block the difference. Bring the award letter to the visa interview.
How much can I withdraw each month?
Only one twelfth of the deposit per month, even if you need more in the first weeks. That is why we suggest keeping extra money outside the blocked account for the deposit and furniture.
When should I open it?
As soon as you have your passport and admission or APS certificate. Transfers from India can take five to ten working days including LRS paperwork at your bank.
